It’s not very often that we see new RTS games that look as ambitious and polished as Tempest Rising. After its demo made waves this last summer, Knights Peak is jumping in to co-publish the game alongside Saber Interactive’s 3D Realms label.
My.Games shared the announcement on November 21, stating that its Knights Peak label, which so far has nabbed an impressive initial roster of promising titles, will be providing “global publishing capabilities to propel the game’s success worldwide.” For Matthew Karch, CEO and co-founder of Saber Interactive, the partnership is “a great opportunity” to reach “ambitious goals” as the game nears a possible release window announcement following encouraging beta tests earlier this month.
The game comes from Slipgate Ironworks and 2B Games. As you can tell from its Steam page, screenshots, and previews released so far, it’s proudly wearing lots of Command & Conquer influences on its sleeve. One of its main features is the ability to customize armies ahead of each mission in the story campaign, which features two sides of the global conflict and high-quality cutscenes. A third faction is planned to be added later, with skirmishes, custom games, and ranked multiplayer available from the get-go.
With 2024 now almost finished, it’s hard to see 3D Realms and Knights Peak making a last-minute move to launch it in December, so we’re hoping for a properly prepared Q1 2025 release instead. That’s just informed guessing on our part though. With the RTS genre slowly but steadily making a comeback – mostly thanks to indies – we can wait for a bit longer so the game is in perfectly good shape when it opens its gates.
We recently interviewed Knights Peak’s VP of Publishing Eugenio Vitale, who shared smart insights into where the video game market is at right now and detailed what their more immediate plans are. Looking at the talent they’ve signed on so far and the games they’re looking at, this announcement doesn’t really come as a surprise, and we’re quite happy to see someone consistently making big moves with small/medium-sized games.
