Publisher and developer Funcom today announced that Conan Exiles Update 3.0 is on the way, having locked down its release date to the 1st September. Its launch brings a series of notable changes to the survival game and ushers in the Age of Sorcery, which marks the transition to a seasonal model as far as post-launch content is concerned.
Conan Exiles Age of Sorcery lets you wield the power of magic as long as you’re willing to pay a price. You can cast spells, become invisible, call upon the power of storms, and summon unholy creatures as long as you’re willing to become corrupted and sacrifice a portion of your own health and stamina.
Conan Exiles Age of Sorcery 3.0 Release Date
To unlock sorcery, you’ll need to track down sorcerers and obtain their maps and writings. Doing so eventually leads you to the Tome of Kurak, an item that enables the unlocking of sorceries by combining special pages at the Thaumaturgic Bench.
Sorcerers taken as thralls can be forced to research pages for you. To cast sorceries, you must equip a staff, then choose the words that go into the magical phrase you’re about to utter from runes that appear before you.
This corrupts you and, as you tap into the dark powers, you can put points of corruption strength, vitality, and authority.
Each milestone reached with corruption, changes that perk into a special sorcery variant that synergizes with your new, dark powers.
Update 3.0 also deepens character progression, adds rebalancing attributes, and lets you specialize even further by giving you perk choices for each attribute.
The game’s building system is also in line to be overhauled, receiving an interface that’s easier to use with both keyboards and controllers.
In addition, a new Creative Mode will also be introduced, letting you channel your inner architect without worrying about the material or movement restrictions.

Tweaks to followers, new sorcery-themed placeables and crafting materials, as well as other updates to the world are also planned to arrive once the Age of Sorcery arrives.
Subsequent ages function much like seasons in other games, having their “own theme, free gameplay updates, and paid Battle Passes, which replace the current DLC model,” according to a statement sent to us by Funcom.
“Ages look to the future, in order to deliver evenly paced content drops and an easy way for any player to support the game’s growth and receive exclusive themed cosmetics.”
Players progress through the battle pass – each one lasting “for about 13 weeks” – by completing challenges and can retroactively claim rewards even if they don’t purchase the premium variant straight away.
The weapons and armor rewarded via Conan Exiles’ Battle Pass system grant recipes and will have a base game equivalent stats-wise.
The new Illusion system also lets you use the look of these weapons and armor to others of the same type, essentially acting as the game’s take on transmog.
The Age of Sorcery Battle Pass also introduces spell flasks. According to the developer, they are “5-stack one-use items that let you cast one of the new sorcery spells, such as lava floe or invisibility.”
You’ll also earn Crom Coins which, provided you progress through all the available tiers, allow you to purchase the next Battle Pass.
Conan Exiles’ Update 3.0 also introduces the Bazaar, where you can spend Crom Coins on cosmetic items.
Conan Exiles’ Age of Sorcery launch will also see its attributes and perks significantly rebalanced, in an effort to improve viability across the board, properly integrate sorcery, and add more choice to the mix.
You will be able to earn 60 attribute points, down from 390, each attribute having a cap of 20 points and no ramping cost as you reach higher levels.
Every five points spent help you unlock a perk, while every ten points spent you get to choose between two mutually exclusive perks.
They all have gameplay effects like making the first attack after a dodge cost no stamina and penetrate armor better, make structures more stable, or tools last longer.
You can follow the link above for a breakdown of Conan Exiles’ new attributes. If you choose to dabble in sorcery, you can spend soul essences obtained from sacrificing humans to gain corrupted perks, further increasing the depth of available character customization.
Followers start with lower health and damage in Conan Exiles’ Update 3.0 but can be made stronger by investing in the Authority attribute and its perks.
It improves the damage your followers deal alongside your ability to take humans as thralls or sacrifices for your sorcerous activities.
Sorcerers can also raise undead thralls, summon demons, and use an abyssal horse or rhino as powerful mounts.
More details about Conan Exiles update 3.0 and the Age of Sorcery will be shared in the lead-up to launch.
