Stellaris’ Biogenesis expansion sees Season 9 kicking into full gear next month, and its story trailer, which recently went live, showcases some of the benefits of becoming a master geneticist. Where other leaders rely on technology to wage war, the living ships that will soon start roaming the galaxy are equally devastating, despite their fleshier appearance.
The expansion introduces two unique ship sets – the hardy Shellcraft and the aggressive Spinovores – while promising a spin on the game’s traditional combat classes through the introduction of four new ones – the maulers, weavers, harbingers, and stingers.
Stellaris: Biogenesis Story Trailer
Although the Stellaris: Biogenesis story trailer doesn’t lean into gameplay, it clearly showcases the destructive potential of these new ships. Better yet, we can also glimpse a planet-eating monstrosity that may or may not be linked to the expansion’s new player crisis path.
Anyone picking up the expansion can tap into three ascension paths – Cloning, Purity, and Mutation – alongside more than 18 enhanced authorities to evolve their empire.
Three new origins offer new starting scenarios that revolve around combining unique phenotype abilities in order to vastly improve our civilization’s ability to adapt, making early use of the new and versatile Deep Space Citadel megastructure to defend our territory, or embodying a harmonious sapient planetary ecosystem that seeks to spread its consciousness far beyond its home planet.
With Stellaris: Biogenesis, the universe becomes even more dangerous, as a Hive Fallen Empire can wait for us as it attempts to awaken its three splintered personalities. In addition, seven new civics, 65 new events, and more are also part of the expansion.
Stellaris: Biogenesis is set to launch on May 5 and can be purchased individually or as part of Season 9, which includes two other expansions that will launch later in 2025 alongside the Stargazer Species portrait.
