Publisher and developer CD Projekt Red has announced that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold more than 13 million copies since its launch earlier this month.
It previously revealed that 8 million people had already pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077 and it seems that the game’s rocky launch and terrible performance on last-gen consoles didn’t affect its sales numbers too much.
As CD Projekt Red pointed out in a report, 13 million is the number of estimated copies that Cyberpunk 2077 sold by December 20. It includes “retail sales across all hardware platforms (factoring in returns submitted by retail clients in brick-and-mortar as well as digital storefronts)” from which “all refund requests e-mailed directly to the Company by the publication date of this report [December 22]” were detracted.
Despite selling very well, Cyberpunk 2077’s launch has been a mixed bag. Players reported technical issues and a ton of bugs, including some that made distant traffic look like something out of Road Rash and rendered them able to win races while surfing on top of an opponent’s car.
On the flipside, quite a few mods were released even without official support, some of which target performance improvements. There’s a lot else that’s great about the RPG when it works.
Cyberpunk 2077 is out now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Google Stadia.
