Cyberpunk 2077 packs a lot into its busy futuristic metropolis. But while it’s easy to get lost in all the colorful neon signs and impressive skyscrapers, some players have discovered that distant traffic takes a page from Road Rash.
If V tries to zoom in on cars in the distance, there’s a chance that they’ll be met with low-quality sprites that look pulled straight from the ’90s. As immersion breaking as seeing some of the sights below can be, it’s worth keeping in mind that this isn’t something that’s exclusive to Cyberpunk 2077.
Developers employ the use of different tricks to make it easier for your hardware to handle their games. Distant objects don’t need to be rendered in as much detail as those that are up close, so using lower quality replacements is a viable way of doing things. What Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t quite nail is the execution. As soon as you spot its distant traffic, it’s hard not to think that something has gone horribly wrong.

The settings on which you play the game could also determine how likely you are to spot this type of distant traffic. Running Cyberpunk 2077 on hardware that handled the game on higher settings, we only saw 2D traffic disappearing in the distance when near highways.
The lower your go, the more likely are to experience what the Reddit user above did. But even then, you’d have to intentionally zoom in on areas of Night City that are further away, at least from what we can tell.

This is yet another in the long series of bugs and issues that have been plaguing the game since launch. Or, perhaps, the developers are really big fans of Road Rash and went all in with their tribute to the PS1 title.
More patches for the RPG are on the way after the holiday break, but if you want to do everything you can to hold onto your immersion, maybe zoom in on distant places only when necessary.
