The team behind WolvenKit – an open-source modding project that provides modding tools for The Witcher 3 – has announced that it is working on extending support to also include Cyberpunk 2077.
WolvenKit would, thus, enable Cyberpunk 2077 modding support, feature that will otherwise be missing when the RPG launches.
“Now that we are so close to the release date of cp77, we are preparing to upgrade the community modding tools for The Witcher 3 - WolvenKit - to also support Cyberpunk!” reads a post on the CD Projekt Red forums.
WolvenKit Cyberpunk 2077 Modding
“WolvenKit is a community open source project that allows for almost complete modding support for TW3, including but massively surpassing the official modding tools of the game.”
The team is seeking input from both the community and CD Projekt Red staff as it begins work on WolvenKit to enable Cyberpunk 2077 modding.
The RPG is built on the latest version of the developer’s proprietary Red Engine, which makes the transition very likely to happen.
That being said, the team behind WolvenKit hasn’t provided any timeframe on when Cyberpunk 2077 modding will be available, nor details regarding the initial scope of the project.
Being an open-world RPG, Cyberpunk 2077 would very possibly benefit from community mods which have proven able to extend the lifespan of other RPGs quite significantly while providing alternative ways to play.
Since it will be some time before mods for CD Projekt Red’s latest title arrive, our Cyberpunk 2077 review clears up just how good its base experience is. Give it a read.
