Darksiders Genesis is going to be the first fully-fledged top-down Darksiders game ever made, which makes for a considerable difference compared to its action-adventure predecessors. Regardless, the game plays exactly as you’d expect a Darksiders title to play.
Below, you’re going to find out all the crucial information about Darksiders Genesis, such as stuff about the release date, COOP, general gameplay info, and the latest trailers.
Release Date
It seems that we won’t have to wait too long for Darksiders Genesis to release. Namely, the game’s Steam page lists 2019 as its release date, which means it’s coming out within the next few months.
We expect that the game’s production was significantly faster compared to that of Darksiders 3 due to the switch in perspective, but if you thought this would result in a game that plays wildly differently, we’re happy to say that this isn’t the case, according to those who’ve had the chance to try it out so far. In short, this will still be a Darksiders game through-and-through. Expect a heavy focus on action, and no loot to speak of.
Gameplay
The first thing that comes to mind upon seeing Genesis is that the game is an ARPG, but this isn’t really teh case. The developers, Airship Syndicate, are dedicated to creating moment-to-moment gameplay that is in line with the rest of the Darksiders offerings. This means that Genesis will retain classic Darksiders viscerality that we all know and love, among other things.
Darksiders: Genesis will also offer two playable characters: War and Strife. Whereas those who’ve played the first game should be very familiar with how War plays from the get-go, Strife will offer a lighter and faster combat experience.
COOP
Darksiders Genesis will be the first Darksiders game to feature a proper cooperative multiplayer mode. Available as both local and online coop, here players will take control of both War and Strife at the same time, with them having the opportunity to switch between the two if they so desire. There’s no word yet on how this will affect the number of enemies on-screen and the difficulty of the game, but we’re sure developers have got something in mind.
