Update: Starting with today, August 13, Dead by Daylight’s Crossfriends feature is now available on all platforms.
“Finally, players will now be able to create a friends list that is cross-platform and enjoy an unprecedented multiplayer experience in their favourite multiplayer horror game.”, reads an emailed press release announcing the feature’s launch.
Original: Publisher and developer Behaviour Interactive has announced that Dead by Daylight’s Crossfriends beta is set to kick off today.
Dead by Daylight’s Crossfriends feature updates the in-game friends list, allowing players to invite others from different platforms into their lobbies.
The Crossfriends beta starting today will only be available on Steam and Windows Store, as the developer wants “to ensure that the feature is stable before extending it to consoles”.
Dead by Daylight Crossfriends Beta
“To add a friend, simply head to your friends list and enter your friend’s ID. Your ID is listed at the top of the friends list. Alternatively, clicking on the name of someone in the lobby or after the match will give you the option to add them to your friends list or block them from sending you requests”, reads the post announcing the Crossfriends beta.
Developer Behaviour Interactive has also clarified the difference between the terms crossplay, crossfriends, and crossprogresion:
- Crossplay: Allows you to be matched with players on other platforms.
- Crossfriends: Allows you to add players on other platforms and invite them to your matches.
- Crossprogression: Allows you to share your progress between the different platforms you play on.
There’s no word on how long Dead by Daylight’s Crossfriends beta will last.
Crossplay was also mentioned in a leak from a few days ago which also revealed that Chapter 17 could be licensed.
In other news, Dead by Daylight’s 4th anniversary event is set to end tomorrow.
