Publisher Electronic Arts and developer Motive today unveiled the first official gameplay trailer for their upcoming Dead Space remake, showing off the familiar yet still terrifying hallways of the USG Ishimura, the Necromorphs that stalk them, and more.
The Dead Space remake’s gameplay trailer starts with glimpses at the ship’s ravaged interiors before introducing the game’s protagonist, Isaac Clarke, wearing his iconic suit.
Dead Space Remake Gameplay Trailer
Throughout it, we see a rather familiar centrifuge, as the footage alternates between shots from inside and outside the Ishimura.
We’re introduced to the trusty plasma cutter alongside a couple of other weapons that will come in handy when facing the Necromorphs.
Several of these baddies, whose limbs we’ll get to cut as we fight for survival early next year, are also shown and age hasn’t made them any less scary.
The Dead Space remake’s gameplay trailer also showcases a few zero gravity sequences, as well as an encounter with that one massive tentacle that keeps trying to drag Isaac away.
Although the quick jump cuts might not be everyone’s cup of tea, the trailer acts as a reminder of the USC Ishimura’s oppressive atmosphere and the fact that this ship is bursting with all manner of horrors.
The remake is built from the ground up using the Frostbite engine and includes “newly added narrative elements.”
Isaac will also be more talkative thanks to “new narrative enrichments” that see Gunner Wright reprising his role as the engineer.
Lastly, aside from those moments in which the Necromoprhs get the best of you, the whole game can be experienced without a single load screen or camera cut.
The Dead Space remake is set to launch on January 27, 2023 and headed to PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. Pre-orders are now live, the standard edition of the game going for 59,99$/59,99€ or your regional equivalent.
