Defiance 2050, the re-imagining of the MMO-shooter from Trion Worlds, is available now to play for free - but something that's not obvious is how the weapons get enhanced.

There are several options for weapons - mods, enhancement, and a very slow level-up process. We'll delve into Weapon Levelling in a separate guide, but for now here's how you enhance weapons in Defiance 2050!

Defiance 2050 - How To Enhance Weapons

Enhancing weapons in Defiance 2050 is one of those gaming things where something very simple has just been made a lot more complicated to find and perform than it needs to be.

Go to your inventory and select the weapon you want to enhance. A button will pop up that says 'Enhance Weapon'. You can either click that or the tiny 'Enhance' button at the bottom of the screen - on console there's a quick button attached to it. Also note the 'Dismantle' button.

This will take you to the Weapon Enhance Screen (see pictures, below).

You'll have various options including mods, but for now click Enhance Weapon right in the centre. You'll then be presented a list of 'Enhancement Materials', which is all Salvage. Salvage is what you use to Enhance Weapons, and Salvage is collected by looting it from enemies or Dismantling weapons.

Choose whatever salvage you want to use to enhance the weapon - just bear in mind that Same Type Salvage adds +3 to Enhancement - so use Shotgun Salvage to enhance Shotguns, etc, wherever possible. Later in the game you will get much bigger Salvage types (10, 100, 1000), but early on just 17-18 Salvage will max a gun to Enhancement Level 10.

After that you'll see you have Weapon Bonus Points to spend. Click on 'Modify Bonuses', 'Spend Bonus Ranks' then select the Bonuses you want to enhance - then Confirm!

Done! Be advised: this is almost pointless at really early levels as you'll be getting new, better weapons out of your ears for a good long time - especially if you take part in Arkfalls. Later though it's really useful!
