Defiance 2050, the re-imagining of the MMO-shooter from Trion Worlds, is available now to play for free - and it supports multiple class types like any MMO or RPG, or shooters like Destiny 2.

Unlike other games though, in Defiance 2050 you can get a new character class and then change between classes whenever you want! But if you haven't paid for them with money they can be tricky to find or unlock. Here's our guide on how to unlock extra character classes in Defiance 2050!

Defiance 2050 - All Character Classes

There are five main character classes in Defiance 2050 - Assassin, Assault, Demolitionist, Guardian, and Combat Medic. Obviously whichever one you choose will stick with you for a good proportion of the game, so choose wisely. If you're primarily playing solo, however, we do not advise getting the Combat Medic class.

Defiance 2050 - How To Get New Character Classes

The simplest way to unlock additional classes is to buy them, for real money. All of the Starter Packages you can buy for the game include the character classes already unlocked - so if you want to mix your classes right from the start of the game, this is the only way to do it.

The free version is a little more complicated, and can only be done after reaching a certain point in the game. You will need to go to The Crater, an outpost in the centre of the map. It's here:

There's a lady called the Commendation Quartermaster just outside The Crater, and if you talk to her she'll have a number of things for sale - and right at the bottom of her list are the four other Character Classes!
