Blizzard has announced that Diablo 4 is getting a closed end game beta soon, targeting the post-campaign systems and activities that are meant to ensure the hack and slash RPG’s replayability and longevity.
Available on PC alongside both current and last-gen consoles, Diablo 4’s closed end game beta will prioritize inviting players “who have recently spent significant amounts of time playing the end-game experiences of Diablo II: Resurrected, Diablo III, and Diablo Immortal,” based on existing gameplay data. Crossplay and cross-progression will also be supported.
Those who get invited will have the chance to experience announced endgame features like the Whispers of the Dead, Nightmare Dungeons, Paragon Board, and Fields of Ruin, the latter of which brings PvP to certain areas of Sanctuary.
The developer also revealed that a new feature – Helltide – will be available during Diablo IV’s closed end game beta test. It adds region-wide events once you reach World Tier Three: Nightmare difficulty, empowering the demons you face and rewarding you accordingly, should you overcome them.
Helltide Chests spread across the regions where the events are active can be opened using Cinders, a new currency that can drop as you kill empowered demons.
Opening them can yield “bountiful boons exclusive to a singular item slot, such as Torso, Legs, or Two-Handed Weapon.” Cinders are dropped upon death and need to be reclaimed.
You can find more details about signing up for Diablo IV’s closed end game beta in this post on the game’s website.
Public testing for the upcoming hack and slash RPG will start in early 2023. If you’re not caught up with how the fourth entry in the series is inspired by the past while forging its own path towards the future, you can read more about its release date and systems in our article.
