Diablo 4’s mid-season 6 patch is coming and, if you’re one of the many people who chose the action-RPG’s newest class as their avatar, you don’t need to worry about nerfs just yet.
During the now-customary mid-season campfire chat, Blizzard has confirmed that the upcoming patch, which goes live soon, focuses on buffs, allowing those of us who’ve poured time into leveling our Spiritborn to continue demolishing opponents while big numbers flood our screens.
Diablo 4 Mid-Season 6 Patch
The developer revealed that 62% of players have tried out the Spiritborn since the launch of the Vessel of Hatred expansion while noting that the class is performing „quite a bit better” than its peers.
Unfortunately, this happens „largely due to unintended interactions,” alongside various balance issues, which will be addressed when Season 7 goes live early next year.
Following the controversial nerfs deployed at the start of Diablo IV’s live service run, Blizzard wants to avoid pulling the rug from under the players enjoying this heightened power fantasy in the middle of the season. That being said, issues that impact the game’s performance or cause lag will be fixed as soon as possible.
The remaining classes perform „fairly well” when compared to one another, according to Lead Class Designer Adam Jackson, but, in line with the developer’s current balance philosophy, will all receive buffs to different skills, in an effort to bring them closer to the Spiritborn for the remainder of season 6.
Interestingly enough, some of the Spiritborn’s less popular skills (like Razor Wings and Withering Fist) are also receiving small buffs.
Improvements to underperforming legendary aspects are also planned for all classes, while select unique items will receive changes that should make them more useful.
Diablo 4’s mid-season 6 patch also aims to lower the offering cost tied to certain Runewords, a feature introduced in the Vessel of Hatred expansion.
Lastly, artillery, blast wave, and conduit shrines will have their damage increased on top of scaling with both player and paragon level, hopefully keeping them relevant as we power through the endgame.
Full patch notes for Diablo 4’s mid-season 6 patch weren’t made available immediately after the campfire chat (which went live on a Tuesday, rather than a Thursday), but should be posted on Blizzard’s website fairly soon.
Another livestream is scheduled for next week, when the developer will detail what we can expect from patch 2.1’s public test realm run.
