Diablo 4’s Midwinter Blight event makes a good case for spending the holidays in Sanctuary, introducing a new threat to fend off and rewards to collect between its start and end dates.
One of several additions that spice up gameplay throughout Season 2, D4’s Midwinter Blight event also marks an opportunity to sharpen our skills before Season 3 arrives, introducing leaderboards.
Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight Event Start and End Dates
The start date of Diablo 4’s Midwinter Blight event is slated to occur on December 12, 2023. Its end date is then locked down to January 2, 2024, giving us three weeks’ worth of time to collect all available rewards.
- Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight event start date: December 12, 2023
- Diablo 4 Midwinter Blight event end date: January 2, 2024
It all starts in Kyovashad, where we’ll meet a traveling bard NPC named Gileon who’ll get us up to speed regarding the new threat spread around Fractured Peaks, represented using the color purple on the in-game map.
As we head out into the area, we’ll encounter Frigid Husks, Diablo 4’s equivalent of snowmen appropriately pieced together from body parts.
Circling them in ritualistic manner are Blightfiends, enemies who serve The Red-Cloaked Horror, a goatman who “lives in the darkest corners of the Fractured Peaks, emerging only with the storm.”
The area plays host to a number of events that revolve around dismantling Frigid Husks and defeating Blight Fiends, which will only be available while Diablo 4’s Midwinter Blight is live.
The Red-Cloaked Horror himself will also take to the field in an effort to murder us. This has a chance to happen whenever we complete the Mastery objective for the Blighted Revelry event.
It is hidden at random locations throughout the Fractured Peaks and slaying him also grants us the Frigid Reveler title.
While facing this newfound evil during Diablo 4’s Midwinter Blight event, we’ll obtain three new types of resources – Blighted Fragments that drop from Blightfiends, Lost Heirlooms that drop from Frigid Husks, and Red-Cloaked Trophies, which are rewarded when defeating the event’s big bad.
The materials gathered can be used at a crafting bench near Gileon and converted into Midwinter Proofs, the main currency. Doing so raises the Midwinter tribute tier, offering more rewards.
One of them is Gileon’s Brew, a special elixir that can be used everywhere and which increases maximum life, lucky hit chance, and experience gained by 15%.
The Shard of Dawn Offensive Aspect can also be farmed during the event, increasing attack and movement speed. Much like the rest of the rewards, it persist once the event has concluded.
D4’s Midwinter Blight event also brings with it 14 cosmetic rewards across all playable classes. They take the shape of weapon skins and back trophies appropriately adorned with skulls that we can add to our wardrobe by participating.
That is what we know so far about Diablo 4’s Midwinter Blight event alongside its start and end dates.
Coupled with the Abbatoir of Zir endgame dungeon, it should be more than enough to make playing throughout Season 2 a prospect worth considering.
