Valve has announced that DOTA 2’s Frostivus 2023 Christmas event is set to return this year, bringing with it a host of new cosmetic items to add to our collection between its start and end dates.
DOTA 2’s Frostivus 2023 event was first brought up in a November blog post, when the developer also revealed that the MOBA’s latest Arcanas event was delayed. The latter is now slated to go live at some point during 2024.
DOTA 2 Frostivus 2023 Event Start and End Dates
A few weeks of silence followed before DOTA 2’s Frostivus 2023’s event locked down its start date to December 14, 2023. Its end date is currently set to occur on January 11, 2024.
- DOTA 2 Frostivus 2023 event start date: December 14, 2023
- DOTA 2 Frostivus 2023 event end date: January 11, 2024
This is in line with its past iterations, which also started during the second half of December, ending during the first part of January.
As detailed on its dedicated webpage, cosmetics remains at the center of celebrations this year.
Playing DOTA 2 fills up our Frostivus Spirit Meter. Each time it reaches capacity, we receive a locked Frostivus Treasure Chest alongside a random Stocking Stuffer.
Opening chests and obtaining the treasures inside involves purchasing their dedicated keys. Stocking Stuffers then yield sprays, stickers, emoticons, or the Frosty the North Ward skin which turns the vision-prodiving items into almost-snowmen.
The customary Frostivus hats are also making a return, between DOTA 2’s Frostivus event start and end dates.
In addition, several cosmetic items grant certain heroes some needed seasonal flair. They include the Arc Warden’s Orbuculum Equinox skin, Pudge’s Frosty the Sew-Man, and Wraith King’s King Kringle look.
The accompanying patch 7.35 also introduces a set of balance changes and various quality of life updates, such as indicators for tower and XP range, a tooltip that clearly communicates teleport times, and more.
DOTA 2’s Frostivus event start date comes just in time to help fend off any boredom that might creep in during the holidays while its end date gives us enough time to collect as many rewards as we need while preparing for next year’s MOBA adventures.
