The latest classic horror property to get the video game treatment will be Creepshow, with indie horror publisher DreadXP and horror streaming giant Shudder joining forces to bring the anthology series to PC and consoles in 2024.
It’s a smart and logical partnership. Creepshow was originally an anthology horror film created 40 years ago by Stephen King and George A. Romero. It later received a sequel and is currently a television show on Shudder. DreadXP has plenty of experience in creating and publishing anthology horror games, with the Dread X Collection series now five games deep and has featured many big names in the indie horror game development space.
The Creepshow game will take on the same anthology formula, and each segment will be handled by a different indie game developer. Developers for the project will be revealed at a later date, but one name is already attached and in the open.
It was revealed that the Creative Director for the project will be Brian Clarke, whose game The Mortuary Assistant was released this Summer to high praise, and was also published by DreadXP. Clarke will also be developing a segment for the Creepshow game.
Shudder’s television show is run by effects legend Greg Nicotero, and is currently finishing up post-production on its fourth season. A Skybound comic book is also in the works.
There’s no set release date as yet for Creepshow, but it will be heading to PC and Consoles when it does eventually launch.
