Publisher Wizards of the Coast and developer Tuque Games have announced that Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance’s release date has been officially locked down to June 22. The news was accompanied by a gameplay trailer that showcases the upcoming title’s world, characters, and combat.
Earlier in November, Wizards of the Coast also revealed that it has entered a partnership with Koch Media, the latter handling worldwide physical publishing activities for Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance, as its release date draws near.
Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance Release Date
Since it was announced during 2019’s The Game Awards, the co-op action-RPG has largely kept a low profile. Aside from receiving a 2021 release window back in November, details about the game have been quite sparse.
The recent gameplay trailer gives us a better idea of the upcoming title’s action-packed gameplay, which seems to do away with the franchise’s reliance on dice, tapping into some hack ‘n’ slash energy instead. Coincidentally, it suits the Ozzy Osbourne track playing in the background quite well.
“A spiritual successor to the original video game series, Dark Alliance features popular characters created by best-selling fantasy author R.A. Salvatore, hacking and slashing their way through the icy tundra of Icewind Dale.” reads an emailed press release.
“The third-person action RPG will allow up to four players to take on legendary monsters from the Dungeons & Dragons multiverse as one of four unique characters, including the scimitar-wielding drow, Drizzt Do’Urden or one of his unique companions Cattie-Brie, Bruenor or Wulfgar.”
Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance will feature both local and online co-op and is slated to release on June 22, 2021 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4. Check out its gameplay trailer below.
