Dying Light 2 aims to keep players busy for many hours at launch – supposedly 500, if you’re adamant about exploring every bit of content it has –, but Aiden won’t run out of things to do over the next couple of years, according to the game’s roadmap.
Publisher and developer Techland has detailed the title’s post-launch content plans, Dying Light 2’s roadmap promising more than 5+ years of support, which includes a variety of content and DLC types.
Dying Light 2 Roadmap
In February 2022, the title received free DLC inspired by its two factions, in the shape of the Authority and Ronin Packs, which add new clothing options for Aiden.
Four new parkour trials make their way to their game on March 17, with a series of events centered on mutated infected enemies planned for April.
Late April is also when Dying Light 2 gets its much-requested new game plus mode. May brings with it the second set of challenges.
In June, the Dying Light 2’s roadmap saw the debut of the game’s first chapter, In the Footsteps of a Nightrunner, which comes with “content and events, as well as the highly anticipated photo mode.”
The first paid story DLC was also initially intended to launch in June but ended up delayed until September.
Dying Light 2’s second chapter kicked off on September 13. Later in the month, the game’s first paid DLC, Bloody Ties, was delayed again, this time until November 10. The decision was made in order “to allow the team extra time to polish and squash bugs.”
The next 5+ years will bring a second paid story DLC alongside more free content that introduces new weapons, enemies, stories, events, and more.
Dying Light 2’s roadmap sounds like it will give players reasons to return at a steady pace, provided nothing alters its content cadence which, at least at first, targets for monthly releases.
Dying Light 2 is out now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4. Its Nintendo Switch version arrives at a later point in 2022.
Here’s what we know about whether or not it will launch with GeForce Now support.
