Dying Light 2 has a plethora of weapons you can use to fight both infected and human enemies, but few have such a resounding name as The Lazarus. The set of artifact knuckledusters plays a fairly important role in the first part of the game and, if you want to see how well it lives up to its name, here’s one way to get them.
Needless to say, this guide will have a couple of spoilers(!) for Dying Light 2. If you’re adamant about going in without knowing as little as possible, it might be worth revisiting it later. It’s also possible that there are other ways to get The Lazarus, but this is what worked during my playthrough.
Dying Light 2 The Lazarus
In order for this approach to work, you’ll have to progress through the main quest, past the point you leave Old Villedor. I sided with the Survivors in Old Villedor, helping them push back the Peacekeepers, which meant that Aitor was not too happy during our encounter in the tunnels.
Despite that, and him getting a good beating from the game’s big bad, this doesn’t blow your chances to obtain The Lazarus artifact knuckledusters.
After you play through the main story enough to get to the Peacekeepers ship in the Central Loop, right before having to climb the stairs to talk to Matt, you’ll see Aitor being carried on a stretcher. This automatically begins a sidequest that’s named after him.
Follow its marker and you’ll discover that the Peacekeeper doctor needs herbs to ensure Aitor keeps fighting for his life. He points you in the direction of a healer who lives on Culvert Island and may be able to help.
At this stage, I had also protected the people of Culvert Island against a Renegade attack, as part of a different side quest, although I’m not entirely sure this plays a role in being able to save Aitor.
Knock on the healer’s door and, after a few protests from her partner, she’ll tell you that saving Aitor requires harvesting the petals of three Recluse plants. They grow nearby – a marker should tell you where – but only at night and you’ll easily spot them by their distinctive glow and long, white petals.
The healer also mentions that while the Recluse’s small petals heal, its big petals poison and this is important to keep in mind.
When you head back to the doctor, you’ll get to choose which petals to give Aitor. If you want to get Dying Light 2’s The Lazarus weapon the way we did, you’ll heal Aitor by giving him the small petals.
Later, during the Broadcast quest, we picked up a side quest called The Black Widow, which sent us to the Fisheye in New Dawn Park.
Upon entering, we spotted Aitor next to a wall on the left side of the building. He’s close to the entrance and you may be able to find him without picking up the side quest mentioned above, as it doesn’t directly involve him.
Talking to him initiates a dialogue that automatically rewards you with the Lazarus weapon. Strangely enough, Aitor also doesn’t seem all that bitter about helping beat back his Peacekeepers from Old Villedor, brushing that under the rug and focusing on his personal drama instead.
As shown in the screenshots above, the artifact knuckledusters are a bit sharper than many of their peers, thanks to the blades attached to them.
That’s what you need to know about getting The Lazarus artifact weapon in Dying Light 2. For more on the game, here’s what we know about its length.
