Video game subscription services are slowly becoming commonplace, giving players access to a wide library of titles for a small monthly fee. EA Play and its Pro version are publisher Electronic Arts’ answer to this growing demand and have, since 2016, amassed a lengthy list of PC games that we can access in 2021 without having to buy them individually, at full price.
They stretch across multiple genres and sizes, from indies to the publisher’s own blockbusters, too, which could be yet another incentive for those players looking for variety. Previously known as EA Access, the subscription service comes with a series of other bonuses, which we’ll get into below, and it’s worth knowing that you can get access to EA Play’s list of 2021 PC games in a number of ways.
The easiest and most straightforward is to purchase it through either Origin or the EA Desktop App, which is now in beta. The standard EA Play subscription costs €3.99/$4.99/£3.99 per month or €24.99/$29.99/£19.99 per year. EA Play Pro will set you back €14.99/$14.99/£14.99 per month or €99.99/$99.99/£89.99 per year.
Alternatively, you can also get it through Steam, the standard version also being included whenever you subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or Xbox Game Pass for PC.
The main differences between the two variants, aside from the list of PC games you can access, lie in how they handle the publisher’s new releases. The standard version gives you access to them for up to 10 hours’ worth of playtime and lets you play them before everyone else for the same amount of time. If you opt for EA Play Pro, the time restriction is lifted.
Both versions’ Play List – formerly known as The Vault – also include a good number of third-party titles and subscribing to either version grants a 10% discount for your Origin purchases, alongside exclusive rewards and member content as long as you stay subscribed.
