Electronic Arts has confirmed that its first World Rally Championship (WRC) game will be released in November for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Developed with Unreal Engine 5, Codemasters are behind the project and promises that EA Sports WRC will deliver “photo-realism and true-to-life control”
EA Sports WRC Early Access in October
Players who pre-order the game will be granted five VIP Rally Passes, giving you access to bonus content after the game’s release, including livery and apparel packs. Plus, they’ll get up to three days of early access starting from October 31, 2023.
“EA SPORTS WRC is the purest form of motorsport where every stage is a fight against the clock, the terrain, and yourself,” said Ross Gowing, Senior Creative Director at Codemasters.
“This is the rally game we’ve always wanted to make, combining our studio’s deep knowledge and expertise with the power of the official WRC license representing the pinnacle of rally motorsport.
“The game’s new engine has enabled us to push rally to the edge of what’s deemed possible, and the additional features, including Builder and Moments, give players even more ways to interact with the sport they love.”
EA Sports WRC will showcase 18 official FIA World Rally Championship locations, spanning over 600km of challenging asphalt, gravel, and snow terrains. 10 WRC, WRC2, and Junior WRC vehicles will be driveable, along with 68 of the sport’s most “iconic rally cars from the past 60 years”.
Multiplayer support is available, accommodating up to 32 players in matches with crossplay functionality across PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. A VR mode will be available for the PC version, although it’s coming post-launch. There’s no word if this will be supported for the PSVR 2 yet.
