Alien: Isolation is today’s free offering on the Epic Games Store as part of its campaign that spans a whole 15 days, but you might have missed it due to the sudden change in server status.
The storefront’s free titles are always met with a high degree of enthusiasm but today was one of those extra special days. Not long after Alien: Isolation appeared in the free box, the Epic Games Store server status changed from doing perfectly well to being completely dead. If you’ve been trying to sign in to the EGS, you’ve likely been hit by a “Sign In Failed” message accompanied by an AS-3 error. Here’s what that means.
Epic itself describes the Epic Games Store AS-3 error as follows: “This error code means that you are having a connection problem while trying to use the Epic Games Launcher.”
Essentially, when the servers saw the sheer amount of players clicking that Get button, they ran away and hid faster than those who’ve already played Alien: Isolation do when they hear a sign of the Xenomorph.
Issues like these are usually temporary, so we expect the Epic Games Store Server Status to change soon. We’ve seen it happen in the past, like in the case of Grand Theft Auto V, which brought a plague of Error 500 messages.
While we’re waiting for the EGS servers to come back to life, here are some more awesome horror games on PC alongside all the free games that Epic has given away this year.
