A new Ghostbusters video game is on the way, actor Ernie Hudson has confirmed. Known for his role as Winston Zeddemore in the Ghostbusters movies, he spoke about the upcoming game at a panel during last weekend’s CelebFanFest Film Festival, which took place in San Antonio, Texas.
Ernie Hudson confirmed that he was involved in the new Ghostbusters video game and was preparing to record voice lines for his character.
As spotted by the Countdown City Geeks YouTube channel, via website Ghostbusters News, the actor responded to a question about whether we could expect a new video game in the series with the following:
“I just got an e-mail, because we’re doing another video game. They’re scheduling it now to do the recording, and I’m not sure who’s going to do it, I know me and Danny (Dan Aykroyd), I think. I’m not sure about Billy (Bill Murray) will do anything on it. So, there will be another video game.”
Hudson also noted that he is working with the unnamed developers on his in-game character’s appearance, confirming that Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd are both getting in-game characters.
When asked, the actor chose not to share much else about the new Ghostbusters video game and the period it’s set in, mentioning that he also doesn’t know its release date.
It’s worth keeping in mind that towards the end of September, IllFonic co-founder Raphael Saadiq confirmed that the studio known for its work on Friday the 13th: The Game and Predator: Hunting Grounds was developing a Ghostbusters game.
He did so during an episode of the Questlove Supreme podcast, at around the one hour and 25 seconds mark.
Although there’s no direct link between Hudson and IllFonic’s Ghostbusters video game at this time, there is a chance that the actor was referencing the same project.
If that turns out not to be the case, we can’t really complain about two upcoming titles based on the IP being in development.
