Publisher and developer Pine Studio has announced that Escape Simulator 2, the sequel to its 2021 escape room game, is now in development.
Boasting a set of detailed new environments, deeper puzzles, and an updated room editor, a first look at the title was provided through its announcement trailer, which you can find embedded below.
Escape Simulator 2 Announcement
Escape Simulator 2 launches with three different room packs, each containing four explorable rooms and distinct theming. First up, Dracula’s Castle waits mired in shadows and mystery.
The Starship EOS promises a futuristic adventure set on a stranded exploration vessel. Lastly, The Cursed Treasure asks us to put on our pirate hats.
Playable both solo and in multiplayer, alongside up to 7 other players, interactivity plays a major role in the sequel.
In each environment, we can pick up and examine objects, wipe away dirt, drive vehicles, or take a seat whenever we need a breather.
The “more powerful and intuitive” Room Editor 2.0 promises to give players even more tools to set up and share their own escape rooms.
“A sequel gives us a fresh start and lets us push the limits of the genre further,” the developer explains on the game’s Steam page.
“We were inspired to explore darker escape room themes and experiment with new gameplay and puzzle ideas. Splitting from the original game let us focus on improving key features like rendering, networking, physics, and animations.”
Escape Simulator 2 doesn’t yet have a release date but can be wishlisted at the link above. While we wait for it, the original game will continue receiving content, the developer has assured.
