Evil Genius 2: World Domination launches tomorrow, putting players in the shoes of a criminal mastermind that’s fond of massive doomsday weapons, telling their underlings what to do, and the occasional act of random murder. Building a cozy secret lair from which to enact your plans already involves a fair share of customization, but some players might want to take things a step further with mod support.
Evil Genius 2 mod support hasn’t been talked about a lot in the lead-up to launch, despite the title currently being slated for release solely on PC. In March, however, publisher and developer Rebellion did finally address the matter.
“The modding community has been phenomenal in keeping interest in the original Evil Genius alive, and we’ve certainly been watching with interest. We don’t have anything to announce on Steam Workshop support for Evil Genius 2 right now, but if it’s something you’re passionate about seeing, let us know,” Producer Ash Tregay said during a Reddit AMA.
The Evil Genius 2 Steam page also lacks any mentions of Steam Workshop support, likely confirming that official mod support won’t be available at launch. While this is sure to disappoint modders with an interest in the upcoming spy-fi lair builder, Rebellion’s statement does make it sound like mods aren’t entirely out of the question.
Evil Genius 2: World Domination is currently slated to launch on March 30 and headed to PC. Aside from its four campaigns, it will also feature a sandbox mode.
