Publisher and developer Rebellion today announced that villain sim Evil Genius 2: World Domination has got itself an official release date slated for late March. Players will be able to channel their inner bad guy on March 30, when the title arrives on PC through Steam.
Initially set to launch last year, Evil Genius 2: World Domination was delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Its release date announcement was accompanied by a trailer that features fresh gameplay footage.
Arriving 16 years after the original, Evil Genius 2 treats players to four campaigns, each focusing on a different genius. Where “narcissist despot Max” and “heavy-muscle madman Ivan” will be familiar to anyone who’s played the first game, “manipulative ex-spymaster Emma” and “scientist zealot Zalika” are the sequel’s new villains. Each of the four has their own approach to achieving world domination, focusing on different aspects of building their criminal empire.
You’ll have a choice of three islands on which to build your multi-level lair of ultimate evil but, regardless of your pick, you’ll also have to maintain the casino that acts as a front for your not-so-legal endeavors. However, a genius alone cannot build a doomsday weapon and manage a criminal empire by themselves.
That’s where you minions and henchmen come in, helping you build your lair and its traps, protect it against the Forces of Justice, and traveling across the world to maintain and expand your operations. The latter also involves stealing “useful loot” which includes buildings like Fort Knox and, more importantly, “a living, breathing dodo.” Now that’s the ultimate sign of nefariousness.

Evil Genius 2: World Domination releases on PC, via Steam, on March 30.
