Publisher and developer Rebellion today unveiled a new trailer for upcoming management game Evil Genius 2: World Domination, which goes through the major aspects of building and maintaining your island lair, while showcasing new gameplay footage. It’s a good look at what to expect, ahead of launch later this month, including building rooms, motivating minions, and stealing valuable loot. It also shows just how effective a maze of well-placed traps is at fending off the pesky agents of the Forces of Justice.
The trailer gives us what’s likely the first glimpse at Maximilian’s gold-fueled Doomsday Device on the verge of unleashing its devastating attacks upon the world. Each of the four Geniuses playable at launch, whose voice actors were previously revealed, comes with a device of their own. Rebellion also confirmed that Evil Genius 2 is getting a free Photo Mode at launch but also detailed what the first paid post-launch campaign pack will feature.
Building an impressive lair and a luxurious casino to hide it both eat up a good deal of your time with Evil Genius 2: World Domination, which is why it’s great to hear that you’ll be able to show off your masterfully placed rooms and traps using the game’s Photo Mode. You’ll be able to adjust the camera’s field of view, depth of field, and focal distance, but also toggle the visibility of different characters, and choose between different filters and overlays as you chase that perfect shot.
Evil Genius 2’s post-launch campaign pack is part of its first season of content. While the publisher stressed that the development team is fully focused on preparing the base game for launch, it did reveal that the pack will contain a new playable Genius, bringing the total up to five. They’ll come with a new island lair of their own and will get to face a new Force of Justice.
“Across other packs we’ll also introduce new henchmen, minion types, room types, traps, items and more,” the publisher said in a press release. Evil Genius 2’s Deluxe Edition contains all the post-launch DLC coming during the first season, as previously announced.
Evil Genius 2 is slated to launch in two weeks, on March 30, and headed to PC. If you’d like to catch up on what it has to offer, our interview and preview explore the sequel in more detail.
