Square Enix has officially announced the launch of its 4v4 foam party shooter, Foamstars, exclusively for PlayStation Plus members. The game will be released on February 6th, available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Initially, Foamstars will be included in the PlayStation Plus lineup of free games for February.
Starting March 5th, with the release of the next batch of free games on PlayStation Plus, Foamstars will be priced at £24.99 / $29.99. However, this price applies only to those who didn’t download it during its PlayStation Plus period in February.
Foamstars Roadmap for 2024
Square Enix says that Foamstars will receive free seasonal content, with a full year of content planned for 2024. It hasn’t provided a roadmap for these updates yet, but players should expect new cosmetics, playable characters, maps, and game modes to be added.
Each season will come with an optional Premium Season Pass for £4.99, which unlocks specific Season Pass characters and cosmetics. There will be three PvP gameplay modes available at launch, including Smash the Star, Happy Bath Survival, and the newly revealed Rubber Duck Party.
The game incorporates quests that provide rewards, including new playable characters and significant experience bonuses for Season Pass progression. While it might seem similar to Splatoon at first glance, reports suggest that it offers a distinctly different playstyle when played in person.
PS5 and PS4 players will be able to access Foamstars via PlayStation Plus on the 6th of February.
