Publisher and developer StickyLock Games has unveiled Histera, a free-to-play multiplayer shooter whose dynamically-changing environments promise unexpected twists during its matches.
First playable during October’s Steam Next Fest, the title supports up to 16 players and features weaponry from across different eras.
That’s all thanks to The Glitch, a space-time anomaly, that transforms areas of the map into landscapes from the past, present, or future.
It all happens as the fight rages on, so we may find ourselves jumping from a gunfight in a futuristic location into one that takes place in an area inspired by World War 2 or our prehistoric past.
These altered parts of the map also contain era-appropriate weapons, which means that we’ll have to master both high-tech shotguns capable of firing incendiary rounds and prehistoric hunting bows that rely on much humbler but still deadly arrows.
By the sound of it, this could prove to be a welcome twist on the standard first-person shooter formula that rewards adaptability. We’ll get our first taste of it between October 9 and October 16.
Anyone playing during Steam Next Fest also gets an exclusive skin. Histera is then slated for a 2024 launch and you can learn more about it by visiting its Steam page.
