With Gears 5 nearly upon us, this is a good time to brush up on our knowledge regarding one of its mechanics that’s not immediately obvious. Naturally, we’re talking about the wall bounce, which players should know from previous Gears of War titles.
If Gears 5 is your first encounter with the series, however, the wall bounce might prove to not be all that intuitive at first. Here’s everything you need to know about how to master wall bouncing in Gears 5.
Gears 5 How To Wall Bounce
Like in previous entries, wall bouncing in Gears 5 can be done as long as you’ve two walls close enough to each other. From there, you can bounce between them using the game’s popular cover system.
In order to wall bounce in Gears 5, you need to be aware of a couple of things. Firstly, you don’t need to be next to a wall to use it at cover. Pressing the cover button from further away will prompt the character to slide towards the wall. Taking cover can then be canceled by moving backwards. If done correctly, you won’t be locked into cover.
From that point forward, you can slide towards the other, nearby, wall. These three actions combined lead to what is known as wall bouncing. To reiterate, you’ll need to slide towards cover, cancel the action mid-way by moving backwards then quickly sliding towards a nearby wall.
You can wall bounce pretty much until you run out of wall. Although not intuitive, the move can make you more difficult to hit, which is always great in a game that features plenty of bullets flying towards your face.
It’s also worth keeping in mind that, especially if you’re new, it will take a while until you master wall bouncing in Gears 5. You’ll not only have to get comfortable with the move itself but also learn the game’s maps as well.
