Genesis Alpha One is a rather special combination of rogue-like, FPS, and deep-space exploration features which will definitely make for an exciting release, come 2020. That said, as it stands, the game will apparently only feature solo play at the moment of writing.
Genesis Alpha One multiplayer would perhaps be a solid fit, considering the type of game we're dealing with here, but one has to consider the very real possibility that the game's infrastructure does not support multiplayer functionality.
Does Genesis Alpha One have Multiplayer Modes?
According to one forum thread on Steam Discussions, developers are currently not looking into adding multiplayer functionality at all, though this may change sometime down the line, depending on player feedback.
"No plans for multiplayer at this time. We'll weigh our options based on player feedback post-launch, " said one of the developers in response to players asking if multiplayer functionality is even being considered at all.
The last official word on co-op and multiplayer support came on the 15th November 2021, when a developer on the Steam forums replied to a thread asking about co-op updates; "I'm sorry, but we have no plan to add multiplayer."
In other words, this is simply a careful way of saying that Genesis Alpha One is currently not being developed with multiplayer in mind at all, though something of the type may get retrofitted into the game sometime down the line. Whether that really is the case or not depends entirely on how well the game does, of course, so - never say never.
