Grounded is Obsidian Entertainment’s first survival game and has made quite a splash upon launching in Early Access, quickly making its way to the top of the Steam top sellers list, surpassing the recently launched Destroy All Humans! remake.
On top of that Grounded also managed to make its way to the top of Twitch, reaching more than 250,000 peak viewers last night.
The survival game also did decently on Steam, where its peak concurrent player number, at the time of writing, has surpassed 12,000. While those aren’t exactly Monster Hunter World numbers, they’re still quite good for the first day of launch.
Grounded Steam Top Seller and 250,000+ Peak Twitch Viewers
Grounded’s status as a Steam top seller and its 250,000+ peak viewership on Twitch may come as a bit of a surprise, considering how it’s a much smaller project than Obsidian’s previous games.
Simultaneously, it being the studio’s first take on the survival genre and featuring a rather unique perspective to boot – that puts you in the shoes of a shrunken kid braving new dangers in their backyard – likely drew curious eyes towards it.
Grounded is currently targeting a broad 2021 release date which gives developer Obsidian enough time to build upon the game’s foundation in Early Acess. You can learn more by visiting its Steam page and checking out our guide on cross-platform support.
