CD PROJEKT RED has revealed the fifth and latest expansion for GWENT, their free-to play card battler that orignated in the taverns of the Witcher 3. Titled Master Mirror, the free expansion has a release date of June 30th, 2020 on PC, iOS, and Android. The Master Mirror brings over 70 new cards to your decks based on the Mirror himself, Gaunter O’Dimm.
11 of the included cards are neutral and playable in any deck, but the rest are faction specific and relate to key events in that factions history, provided they involved O’Dimm of course. With the Master’s skill for manipulation and trickery we can expect that the new statuses and abilities being introduced will likely play around with those themes, giving players a new way to achieve a cunning victory.
Gwent Season of Magic Release Date
The expansion is also set to introduce a brand new legendary card type that evolves in power and appearance as the battle progresses. If you can’t wait for the release, the in-game store is offering pre-order packs that will grant you the new cards on the 30th and comes with a Gaunter O’Dimm leader skin, cardback, and title you can show off immediately.
All this isn’t to say there is nothing new to enjoy until the June 30th release, as the Season of Magic mode is running until June 28th, 2020. Whenever you play in this mode, any special card you play with also cast a copy of it, so in the words of Projekt Red, “put the swords aside and open your spell books.”
