Being built with VR in mind, Half-Life: Alyx has a variety of new issues to overcome, including motion sickness. While different people react differently to lengthy periods spent in VR, including a smooth turn option can prove very helpful.
But does Half-Life: Alyx feature a smooth turn option or was it left out? Here’s everything we know.
Half-Life: Alyx Smooth Turn
Half-Life: Alyx didn’t launch with a smooth turn feature, the community not sparing much time before taking to the internet to criticize the omission.
Whether it was a bug or an oversight, disabling quick turn didn’t enable smooth turning in Half-Life: Alyx, despite the title letting players choose between teleportation and smooth moving.
Thankfully, the issue has since been fixed. Half-Life: Alyx’s patch 1.1 added an option for smooth turning – called Continuous Turn in the menu – alongside different turning speed options.
The patch also renames Quick Turn to Snap Turn, in an attempt to more clearly describe what the option does.
Half-Life: Alyx is available now on the Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality headsets.
