Hearthstone Lead Mission Designer David Kosak has left Blizzard Entertainment after 12 years with the company.
The announcement was made on Twitter, where Kosak also revealed that he is now part of Deviation Games. According to his LinkedIn profile, he takes on the role of creative director working on an unannounced project at the new studio.
“After 12 remarkable years and countless adventures, I am moving on from Blizzard Entertainment. The other week I bid a fond farewell to the orc, who is dutifully wearing his mask. I will very much miss all of my Blizzard colleagues.” he said in a tweet.
Hearthstone Lead Mission Designer David Kosak Leaves Blizzard
During his time at Blizzard, David Kosak worked on hugely popular MMORPG World of Warcraft as both lead quest designer and, later, lead narrative designer.
He then moved on to free-to-play collectible card game Hearthstone, where he acted as lead mission designer and principle narrative designer.
Kosak reassured fans that both games have much in store for them, with Hearthstone’s Madness at the Darkmoon faire and WoW’s Shadowlands expansions being just around the corner.
Before joining Blizzard, he was among the original founders of GameSpy and wrote about the games industry.
“We are building… something secret. But amazing. I can’t say any more, but I promise: It’ll make you go ‘Whoa.’” he concluded, speaking about the project he is working on at Deviation Games.
In other news, just last week a group of ex-Blizzard developers announced Frost Giant Studios, a new developer focused on real-time strategy games.
