Homeworld 3 made quite a splash when its crowdfunding campaign was announced back in 2019. Four years after Gearbox remastered the first two games in the series, it announced that it would take on the role of publisher for the next entry while Blackbird Interactive lead development. That’s when we also got the first details about a potential release date.
Questions about Homeworld 3’s release date would go on to persist, given how it remains to this day one of the most famed sci-fi real-time strategy franchises. The developer itself previously contributed to the series with the excellent prequel Deserts of Kharak. Here’s what we know about when the upcoming title might launch.
Homeworld 3 Release Date
Homeworld 3’s Fig campaign placed its release date at some point during Q4 2022. The title was in pre-production when it was announced back in 2019 and details have been rather scarce for a while following its reveal.

The game’s Fig campaign had a goal of $1, because it already was “on a solid foundation, funding-wise,” but fans ended up pledging a whopping $1,614,618 by the time it concluded.
The title’s official Twitter account later confirmed that Homeworld 3 will be featured during The Game Awards 2021. There, we learned that its Q4 2022 release date is still on the cards
In addition, we also got our first look at Homeworld 3 gameplay and its fairly large-scale battles. June 2022 did, however, bring news that Homeworld 3’s release date was pushed to the first half of 2023.
In May 2023, the publisher announced that Homeworld 3’s release date was postponed until February 2024.
“We are moving the launch of Homeworld 3 to February 2024,” reads a tweet from the game’s official account.
“Our primary goal is to deliver a Homeworld experience that lives up to the standards set by its predecessors and is worthy of this series’ incredible legacy.
“Homeworld 3 is shaping up to be exactly that, but in order to fully realize that vision we need more time to refine and polish the game.”
A progress update is slated to be shared at some point during summer 2023. The game is set to launch on PC, via both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
