Horizon Call of the Mountain’s announcement came out of nowhere during Sony’s CES 2022 press conference, piquing the interest of players looking to delve even deeper into the world they first explored as Aloy. Since the first entry in the series shed PS4 exclusivity last year, many are also wondering whether or not this newest game might get a PC release date at some point.
Co-developed by Guerrilla and Firesprite, Horizon Call of the Mountain was unveiled at the same time as the PS VR2. Studio Director Jan-Bart Van Beek referred to the titles as “one that has been built from the ground up for PlayStations’ next-gen VR hardware.”
Horizon Call of the Mountain’s brief teaser featured gameplay captured on PS5. That alongside other platforms not being mentioned make us believe that a PC release date for the title might not be in the cards, at least at the moment.
The PS VR2’s compatibility with PC also seems unlikely at the moment, at least without relying on third-party software, which further suggests that the game will be part of the initial push to sell the PS VR2.
Whether or not Horizon Call of the Mountain will get a PC release date further down the line remains to be seen. It’s still early days for both Sony’s upcoming VR headset and the game itself, so things can still change.
We’ll be sure sure to update this thread should we learn more about the topic.
