The First Descendant features a roster of 10 characters, which players can unlock by leveling up and collecting parts to build them. This progression system is similar to what you’ve seen in Warframe. You might be wondering if you can switch characters during play, which is what we will go over based on our experiences.
Each character brings unique abilities and roles to the game, with classes ranging from an Assassin, Tanker, Nuker, DeBuffer, and many more.
How to switch characters in The First Descendant
Once you’ve unlocked a few of the Descendants, you might want to diversify your gameplay by trying different classes or characters during certain missions or maps. To switch characters, open the inventory menu by pressing ‘I’ on your keyboard for PC, or by pressing the ‘options button’ on consoles. You will notice a Descendants tab that lists all the characters you’ve unlocked.
You can only change the character when you’re in Albion, not during a mission or combat.
Follow these simple steps to change your character and then we will list all the characters you can unlock:
- Open the Inventory Menu by pressing the options button on your console or ‘I’ on your PC keyboard.
- Navigate to the Descendants tab.
- Select the character you want to play as and click ‘Use’ to switch to that character.
Here’s the list of characters you can unlock and their class:
Character Name | Class |
---|---|
Lepic | AoE Dealer |
Ajax | Tank Dealer |
Viessa | DeBuffer |
Jayber | Utility Dealer |
Sharen | Assassin |
Gley | Close-Range Dealer |
Blair | DoT (Damage over Time) Dealer |
Bunny | Nuker |
Freyna | DoT Dealer |
Kyle | Tanker |
We have only unlocked a couple so far during our playthrough, but we will be creating guides on how to unlock them all over time. Please reach out if you need any more help with changing your character in The First Descendant.
