Humankind aims to shake up the historical 4X strategy landscape as it moves away from traditional factions and brings a series of other tweaks to its recipe. Since it supports both single-player and multiplayer modes at launch, this begs the question of whether or not crossplay and cross-platform support are also available.
Humankind is available on PC, via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Xbox Game Pass as well as Google Stadia. Cross-platform support would ensure that you don’t have to go out of your way to coordinate with your friends which version you buy, or give up playing together because of hardware concerns.
Developer Amplitude Studios has confirmed, earlier in August, that cross-platform support won’t be available on Google Stadia, but the other versions of the game will benefit from it.
“The Stadia version of the game will not support crossplay. However, there will be crossplay between the other available platforms,” reads the tweet clarifying to a fan how far support for the feature extends in Humankind.
If you purchase the game on Steam, the Epic Games Store, or Microsoft Store, you should be able to play with other players on any of the three storefronts.
In our review, we found that Humankind “does hit several sweet spots, both in terms of combat and management, having enough going on to push you to click that next turn button.”
