One of Humankind’s biggest thrills is seeing the civilization you painstakingly built over the ages at the top, fulfilling the game’s Victory Conditions. There’s plenty of fun to be had even without always chasing Fame, but if you’re one of those players adamant to win every match, you’ll want to be aware of the different End Conditions and why they don’t exactly determine the best player.
Humankind’s sole victory condition is directly tied to Fame, the abstract resource that you can earn through a number of different methods. These include earning Era Stars – regardless of affinity –, constructing Cultural Wonders, winning wars, getting yourself Vassals, and more. Regardless of how many avenues to earn Fame you pursue, you’ll have to do so keeping the game’s End Conditions in mind.
Humankind’s End Conditions can be chosen in the Pace menu when setting up your game, from a total of four presets. Reaching any one condition part of your chosen preset ends the game.

- Earning every Contemporary Era Star
- Completing the Technology tree
- Eliminating all the other Empires
- Vassalizing all the surviving Empires
- Sending a Mission to Mars
- Rendering the world unfit for human life
Last Human Standing

One culture reaching an end condition before the others doesn’t automatically make it the winner. Humankind’s sole Victory Condition is having acquired the highest amount of Fame before the game ends. When we reviewed the game, we were also pleasantly surprised to learn that, even if you don’t win, the final cutscene still acknowledges your major achievements.
