After a wait of nearly three years since its initial early access debut, Baldur’s Gate 3 is finally set to release on August 3rd, 2023, for PC, and shortly after, for PlayStation 5. Priced at $59.99 for the PC version and $69.99 for PS5, gamers may be keen to discover: is Baldur’s Gate 3 available on Xbox Game Pass?
Xbox Game Pass offers many enticing benefits, with its affordable subscription being a notable highlight. If you’re considering leveraging the Xbox Game Pass to play Baldur’s Gate 3, this guide provides all the vital information you need to know about the game’s pending availability on the platform.
Is Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox Game Pass?
Unfortunately for those hoping to play the game via Game Pass, the answer to this question is no; Baldur’s Gate 3 is not on Xbox Game Pass at launch. While Baldur’s Gate 3 is a highly anticipated game in the role-playing genre, it is still in development for Xbox due to a technical issue.
In a Tweet, the Larian Director of Publishing. Michael Douse confirmed that “the issue is getting split-screen working on the Series S.” The reason for this is because of the Xbox parity clause, which means that games that run on the Series X must also support the lower-end Series S. Otherwise, they won’t be permitted to release on the platform.
Despite that, there is still good news. In a separate Tweet, Douse mentioned, “We have quite a few engineers working very hard to do what no other RPG of this scale has achieved: seamless drop-in, drop-out co-op on Series S. We hope to have an update by the end of the year.”
In addition to that, recently, users from Twitter and Reddit have reported that they’ve been receiving Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate 2 Xbox Game Pass app notifications, despite those two games not being available on the service right now. If these two games actually made it to the Game Pass, then we’ll likely see Baldur’s Gate 3 being available on the service as well later in the future.
