State of Decay 2 was the much-anticipated sequel to the popular PC and Xbox exclusive, State of Decay. It did not gain the same reception due to several problems, but it was deemed a decent video game in its own right. Now the primary thing we want to discuss here is whether or not State of Decay 2 supports cross-platform play. Well, does it?
From what we have gathered thus far, many gamers are wondering about State of Decay 2 and its cross-platform capabilities. This is because people tend to play with friends across multiple platforms, and not all of them know exactly where they can play State of Decay 2, because some games don’t support cross-platform.
State of Decay 2 on Xbox and PC
| OK, so cross-platform play is only possible on supported systems, and they are the Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PC where Steam and the Microsoft Store are concerned. Of course, you will need an Xbox Live account, but not a subscription account if you’re playing from Steam. |
Additionally, one must ensure all players have the same version of State of Decay 2 before attempting a cross-platform play.
How to enable cross-platform for State of Decay 2
Undead Labs have done a great job of ensuring players can activate cross-play without complexities or many issues. So, how to get it done? Well, let us talk a little bit about that.
- First, you must launch State of Decay 2, and from there, navigate to the main menu.
- Select your preferred Settings, and from there, enable multiplayer mode.
- To invite your friends to play, please click on Host Multiplayer Game, then go to the Guest section and select Invite.
- Choose the friend you want to invite, and that’s it ready to play.
A third game in the series is currently being worked on, and as expected, it is called State of Decay 3. No release date has been announced by Undead Labs, but there’s a trailer you can look at until then.
