Jurassic Park: Survival was first revealed at the 2023 Game Awards, and the first trailer gave us a glimpse of its action-adventure survival gameplay. The reveal brought a couple of surprises; first, it’s a single-player survival game without any multiplayer components at its launch, and second, it diverges from the simulation management style of games like Jurassic World Evolution or Jurassic Park: Builder.
In Jurassic Park: Survival, most dinosaurs you confront will pose a danger, calling for the use of stealth tactics as you build a base and collect resources to survive. This scenario unfolds after you are left stranded during the notorious evacuation of Isla Nublar island, after the events in Steven Spielberg’s 1993 film release Jurassic Park.
Jurassic Park: Survival Release Date
Jurassic Park: Survival isn’t expected to be released until at least 2025, but it is in development for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It will be available on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
- GameWatcher’s Release Date Estimate: 2025
Jurassic Park: Survival Story
Jurassic Park: Survival begins shortly after the original 1993 film’s storyline, beginning the day following the evacuation of Isla Nublar. InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi, who wasn’t able to evacuate the island in time, will be the main protagonist for the game’s singleplayer campaign.
Follow Dr. Joshi as she uncovers thrilling encounters against the dangerous dinosaurs we all know from the hit movie franchise, with behaviors brought to life by John Hammond’s vision. This is a brand-new storyline for the franchise.
Jurassic Park: Survival Locations and Settings
Players will survive in an adventure that sees them fully exploring a fresh take on the Isla Nublar filled with reactive wildlife, dinosaurs, and other surprising threats. From the towering iconic park gates to the Visitor Center and beyond, all the famous locations and structures will be recreated for the game.
Could you be the last living human left on the island? Only brief glimpses of gameplay have been shown, but we expect to come across other survivors and to be able to make use of vehicles and weapons left in this Prehistoric nightmare humanity has brought upon itself. Can you survive long enough for a rescue team to arrive? Or will you need to craft a boat to escape? We can’t wait to find out when it fully launches.
“We have been working with all our stakeholders on what the island would have looked like after the events of the film,” said John Melchior, Universal Products & Experiences executive producer in an internal Q&A obtained by IGN.
“This includes areas we all love like the Visitor’s Center and the T-Rex paddock. But also, what we didn’t see, things that were not part of the tour or got cut off by the storm. Those on the island were supposed to be there overnight, so what does that mean?”
