Jurassic World Evolution 2 was one of E3 2021’s surprises, Frontier Developments announcing the promising sequel out of nowhere. The original title has the best dinosaurs that video games have to offer and the next entry in the series looks to build upon that strong foundation when its release date comes around.
Here is everything we know about Jurassic World Evolution 2, including details about its release date, story, gameplay, and more.
Jurassic World Evolution 2 Release Date
During Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, the developer revealed that Jurassic World Evolution 2’s release date is slated for November 9, 2021, across all platforms.
Jurassic World Evolution 2 Story
Story-wise, Jurassic World Evolution 2 is set just after the events of 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, tasking players with controlling and conserving various dinosaur species in various locations across the continental United States.
You won’t go at it alone, either. Characters such as Dr. Ian Malcolm and Claire Dearing, which should ring a bell if you’ve seen the films, are confirmed to accompany you along the way.
Jurassic World Evolution 2 Gameplay
Jurassic World Evolution 2 will expand upon the original’s construction and more customization options and while giving players “deeper management tools.” New buildings will also be available as you set up base in locations outside of the Muertes Archipelago and which range from dense forests to rocky deserts and taigas.
The sequel’s 75+ dinosaur species include a good few familiar faces – like the T. rex, Triceratops, and Stegosaurus – but, this time around, you’ll also have to look after flying and marine reptiles. Of course, dinosaurs are anything but plush toys with a penchant for pacifism and will want to claim territory for themselves but also interact with each other, oftentimes quite violently.
If the campaign doesn’t give you your fill of park management, you’ll also have Challenge Mode to test what you’ve learned or Sandbox Mode, which emphasizes freedom. Additionally, Chaos Theory mode lets you “revisit and explore pivotal moments from the Jurassic World and Jurassic Park franchise as ‘what-if’ scenarios,” each of its levels set in locations from all five films.
