Publishers THQ Nordic are all set to re-release the eight year old game Amalur: Re-Reckoning today. The re-release remaster is the same game with a new coat of paint, but a surprise Tweet from the developers yesterday has also announced the “Very Hard mode - coming with the Day 1 patch!”
So, for those of you who played the original game when it was first released there’s more than just nostalgia to look forward to. A rebalancing of the levelling system is intended to slow your roll and ensure that you don’t out-level zones your first time through.
Patch notes on this claim that “the result is that you can still out-level zones – which is desirable if it doesn‘t happen too quick. It is part of the power fantasy to be able to come back to initial zones and be over powered – but out-leveling zones you play for the first time should only happen rarely.”

There’s quite a lot more to the balancing act discussed in the FAQ and should go some way to responding to the primary complaints from initial release. If you’d like to know what we think of the game though, you can check out our review.
