League of Legends, like all online games, requires creating an account before you can hop in and play. Adding a strong password can ensure that you won’t fall prey to any hacking attempts.
Nevertheless, if your League of Legends account does end up getting compromised, knowing how to change your password is a vital step towards securing your hard-earned Champions and currency. Here’s how to do it.
League of Legends Changing Password
If you’re not sure how to change your League of Legends password, you needn’t fret. The process is, thankfully, rather simple. First you need to log in to your account on the game’s website.
You’ll then notice your summoner name and region in the top right corner of the screen. Hovering your mouse cursor above it will expand a drop-down menu with a couple of options to choose from.
In order to change your League of Legends password you’ll have to go into Settings, so feel free to click it. You’ll likely be prompted to enter your password.
The Settings screen should show you secured versions of your e-mail and password. Look on the right and you should spot a pen symbol. That’s what you need to click in order to change your League of Legends password.
After you’ve done so, you should now arrive at a new screen that prompts you to introduce your Current Password, New Password and Repeat New Password. The steps are fairly self-explanatory, so simply add your existing password alongside the new one twice.
Your new League of Legends password will have to fulfill the following criteria:
- You can't reuse your old password.
- Passwords must match.
- Passwords must be between 8 and 128 characters long.
- Strength must be Okay or better.
- Must contain at least one letter and one non-letter character
After you’ve completed the steps above, click the Submit button. These are all the steps required to change your League of Legends password.
The next time you log in, whether to the website or the game client, you’ll have to introduce your new password.
