Publisher Iceberg Interactive and developer Rhombus Studios have announced that 4X grand strategy game Lord of Rigel is finally ready to enter Steam Early Access this October.
Revealed more than six years ago, Lord of Rigel is set in a galaxy locked in a state of cold war, players controlling one of its races and getting to decide its path to glory.
You can opt for the diplomatic approach, forming coalitions with other races to mutually strengthen your position, or try your luck as a lone wolf, using espionage, research, and military force against anyone who stands in your path.
Lord of Rigel lets you customize your fleets, by designing ships and adding weapons, before engaging in real-time combat to either defend your territory against encroaching threats or expand your borders.
The initial early access version will include no less than eight playable species, 256-star galaxies, as well as the military victory condition.
There will also be a full research tree, alongside tactical and ground combat, but also diplomacy and espionage systems.
Current plans see the title staying in early access for between six to nine months, during which time it will be updated with more features.
A playable demo will also be made available during the digital TactiCon event held on Steam between September 22 and September 26. Lord of Rigel’s Steam Early Access release is then slated to occur on October 4.
