Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin gives you plenty of Monsties, both majestic and goofy, to track down and hatch yet suffered from a distinct lack of doggos at launch. Its first update, which you’ll now find live on both PC and Nintendo Switch, fixes that, introducing the Palamute as a new hatchable Monstie.
This Monstie makes its way to Wings of Ruin from the latest mainline entry in the series, which is currently still due a PC release date, and if you plan on adding it to your party, you’ll have a bit of work to do. Here’s how to get the Palamute in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin.
When we say Palamute, we really do mean six different Monsties, as Capcom has added one for each of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin’s elements. To get them for yourself, you’ll have to head into a series of co-op Expedition quests. On the quest board, they’re called (Explore) Palamute Den.
You can either join other players looking to do the same or set up your own co-op quest. For the latter, you’ll need to purchase a Palamute Ticket from the Melynx Inc. vendor found in each hub area. Normal tickets cost 8 Bottle Caps, Rare tickets set you back 50 Bottle Caps, while Super Rare Palamute Tickets go for a whopping 100 Bottle Caps.
The co-op quests aren’t all that different from the ones you’ve done so far in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. You and another player fight a monster, defeat it, then take one Palamute egg for yourself. The difficulty of the opponent and rarity of the egg increase with the ticket’s rarity.
Alternatively, you can also score a set of Palamute Tickets by completing the Throw Me a Bone subquest that becomes available once you reach Quest Permit Level 8. All you need to do in order to complete it is turn in 5 Monster Bone+, which gets you 3 Rare and 1 Super Rare Palamute Tickets.
You’re now up to speed on how to get a Palamute in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. For more on the game, check out its post-launch roadmap and guide covering the sap plant.
