Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin asks for a good chunk of your time and comes with a full AAA price tag. If you’re on the fence about getting the game, you’re likely trying out its free trial version. You might also be wondering about whether or not you can transfer your save to the full game, should you choose to go for the purchase.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin’s trial version is now available on both PC and Switch, giving you access to the title’s ts opening hours. With plenty more ahead, repeating the same quests and fights is far from ideal. Thankfully, Capcom does allow players to transfer saves from the trial version to the full game through a process that requires minimal effort.
Provided you’ve played at least a bit of the trial version, starting Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin’s full version adds an additional “Transfer from the Demo” option to the main menu. This won’t be present if you haven’t played through the trial and, as you may have figured it out, it’s how you transfer your save between the two versions.
Simply pressing it prompts the game to look for trial save data. If it discovers any, you’ll be asked if you want to resume that playthrough and can continue from where you left off. The game automatically picks up the data from the trial version’s Save Slot 1, according to the developer.
Transferring your Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin save only overwrites your autosave. Your regular save slots are safe until you save your game manually. One important thing to note is that you’ll likely need to have both versions on the same account for the whole process to work.
That’s all you need to know about how to transfer save from Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin’s trial version to the full game. For more on Capcom’s latest effort, check out our review and guide on max stable size.
