An Assassin’s Creed live-action series is being developed by Netflix in collaboration with Ubisoft, the French publisher and developer announced today.
Described as “an epic, genre-bending live action adaptation”, the Assassin’s Creed live-action series is currently looking for a showrunner.
Ubisoft Film & Television’s Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik have been confirmed as the show’s executive producers.
Netflix Live-Action Assassin's Creed Series
“For more than 10 years, millions of fans around the world have helped shape the Assassin’s Creed brand into an iconic franchise,” said Jason Altman, Head of Ubisoft Film & Television - Los Angeles. “We’re thrilled to create an Assassin’s Creed series with Netflix and we look forward to developing the next saga in the Assassin’s Creed universe.”
Netflix and Ubisoft are looking to “tap into the iconic video game’s trove of dynamic stories with global mass appeal for adaptations of live action, animated, and anime series.”
Thus, it sounds likely that we’ll see more than just one project coming out of the agreement.
No release window for the Assassin’s Creed live-action series was shared. Since the search for a showrunner is currently ongoing, we probably won’t get to watch it anywhere in the near future.
In other Assassin’s Creed news, Ubisoft announced a collaboration with Reebok on an Valhalla-inspired capsule collection shortly after detailing the upcoming game’s season pass and post-launch plans.
